The erstwhile Gujarat Electricity Board has been restructured into seven companies. One generation (GSEC), one transmission (GETCO), four distribution companies and GUVNL. The PGVCL is one of the distribution companies which started functioning from 1st April, 2005.Area served by PGVCL is the largest of all four distribution companies. The area of operation under PGVCL includes Saurashtra and Kachchh regions.Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. is the company under which all the six companies are working, created after restructuring of erstwhile GEB.
to Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) – a state-owned power distribution utility.
We at DGVCL have the rare privilege of empowering millions of people by supplying electricity in their homes as well as to places where they do all kinds of activities – agricultural (or allied), commercial, industrial & other.
DGVCL has a consumer base of 32 lakh consumers spread in 07 districts of South Gujarat region. The Company, headquartered at Surat, functions with 04 Circles, 19 Divisions and 131 Sub-divisions. DGVCL has a unique mix of consumers – i.e. on one hand it caters to industrial consumers located in the golden corridor of Gujarat alongside highly urbanized areas and on the other it caters to agricultural consumers, scattered tribal & forest area consumers and also to long coastline consumers. Thus the expansive operational area and motley consumer mix sets DGVCL apart from private utilities which cater only to urban landscapes.
In a bid to provide its valued consumers with quality power supply, the Company undertakes various infrastructure revamping and technical upgradation programmes on continual basis – like laying of underground cables and installations of RMUs, creation of new feeders and bifurcation of existing feeders, erection of new sub-stations in coordination with GETCO, creation of new transformer centres, etc. Our consumer centric initiatives include dedicated fault centres at every sub-division, 24 x 7 centralized customer care centre at Corporate Office, Vij Seva Kendras at key locations, in addition to range of services available online on DGVCL Website and Mobile App. In addition, DGVCL also hears and redresses consumer grievances through public fora like DGVCL Lok Darbar and DGVCL Aapne Dware regularly.
DGVCL, for its operational and financial performances, has earned many awards, including being honoured with the highest rating of A+ Grade by the Ministry of Power, GoI consecutively four times.
I take this opportunity to thank all DGVCL employees for their untiring efforts and appeal them to stay the course of excellence. I also thank all stakeholders of DGVCL for their cooperation & unstinted support.
Lastly, I invite valuable suggestions from all stakeholders of the Company to make our services yet better.
